LiDAR Applications Engineer

Reports to: VP, LiDAR Products

Location: San Diego, CA

Education: BSEE or equivalent; MSEE preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience with LiDAR Systems architecture, particularly in Transmit section
  • Experience with driving EEL and VCSEL Laser diode applications
  • Experience with APD/SPAD bias schemes a plus
  • Experience in Gate Driver test, characterization and reference design.
  • 10+ years Semiconductor Applications with exposure to LiDAR applications, Laser Drivers, Gate Drivers and Boost Power Suppliers
  • Experience with setting up an applications engineering lab.
  • Hands on experience in design of application boards.

Core Competencies:

  • In-depth technical knowledge of the analog semiconductor market and applications, with emphasis on Laser Drivers, Gate Drivers, and LiDAR systems.
  • Layout expertise and parasitic analysis of high frequency analog board design.
  • New Product characterization, test board and reference design.
  • Circuit simulation using ORCAD, Altium, Cadence or similar tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation:   $150,000 – $180,000 plus Bonus and Benefits

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Characterization and benchmarking of Laser Drivers, Boost Power Supply Controllers and similar devices.
  2. Computer simulation of product performance in applications.
  3. Guidance to product design on device parameter optimization.
  4. Preparation of product support documents including Applications Notes
  5. Support of product engineering by implementation of electrical testing of products.
  6. Support FAE’s in customer support.
  7. Understand and translate market and customer requirements into product specifications. Perform technical competitive analysis.
  8. Analyze and test customer application boards to optimize power system size, efficiency and cost.
  9. Provide technical support and develop close working relationships with customers.
  10. Create development kit and reference designs as well as the appropriate support documentation.
  11. Lead customer demonstrations and conference technical presentations.
  12. Create hardware related customer support documents, application notes, and FAQs.
  13. Work with engineering to implement hardware and/or procedures to satisfactorily test hardware.
  14. Requires periodic travel for support of customers’ product development.
